The head
of the Mathematical Biology Research Group is Lord May of Oxford AC, Kt,
PRS. Lord May studied theoretical physics, but for the last 25 years he
has applied mathamatics to the study of the way population structure affects
ecology, especially in the context of infectious diseases. His research
interests center on the causes, consequences, and magnitude of biological
diversity; mathematical models (in collaboration with clinical and laboratory
researchers) of the population dynamics of the immune system; transmission
of, and defenses against, viral infections and other disturbances in complex
networks (including ecological food webs, infectious diseases, and IT systems). Mathematical Biology, Department of Zoology The Tinbergen Building, Oxford University South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3PS UK |
